“It was regrettable. That was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters seated near me,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the signal was completely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved rapidly.”
