Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.
