Building Connections in the Maga-Verse

The former PM's foray to import the pro-Trump media model to Britain has pushed her closer to controversial figures such as John Solomon.

He founded the platform after criticism following accusations of promoting inaccurate reports about Biden's anti-corruption work in the Eastern European nation, as well as disputed reports about one-time diplomat to that country.

His claims were echoed within the pro-Trump outlets, with Solomon featuring as a frequent visitor on the prominent Fox News program. Donald Trump endorsed his stories.

The journalist published the allegations regarding Ukraine in a set of articles for the publication the Hill, after having been re-labelled as a columnist after colleagues complained about his work. It seems fairly obvious to me that the circumstances in the UK are similar to what allowed this alternative media ecosystem to prosper in the US."

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There's a kind atmosphere within which ideas travel – at times taking an extreme form and occasionally in softer tones – but which is networked."

The academic said the growth of the digital conservative movement in the UK recently meant the "possibility to have a larger effect is substantial."
